Note: You need our Nina Dress Pattern to get the pattern pieces.

Let’s follow these steps!

Tutorial: How To Sew A Detachable Peter Pan Collar

Step 1: Cut 2 main pieces and 2 lining pieces. Get your ties ready. I used a leather tie which I got from a local shop for just 60 cents and I love it. But you can use ribbons or make your own ties.

Step 2: Place your main collar RS facing up. Place a tie at the top corner of the back collar. Baste it in place.

Step 3: Place lining piece on top of the main piece RS together (make sure the tie is sandwiched in between). Pin. Sew the outer curve using 3/8” (1 cm) seam allowance.

Step 4: Now go ahead and pin the inner curve and sew it close using 3/8” (1 cm) seam allowance.

Note: Make sure you don’t  catch the tie when sewing.

Step 5: Trim seam allowances all around.

Step 6: To turn the collar inside out you need to cut a slit in the lining piece only, in the middle. Do not cut into the main piece.

Then, gently pull the collar out through the slit. Press well. And close the slit by hand stitch.

Last thing:  We are going sew the collars RS together to connect them at the center point by hand stitch.
