Totally summer worthy, LILI dress and jumpsuit makes the perfect summer staple. The knit sleeveless bodice and short-version jumpsuit begs for beachwear or sunbathing. I love the thin spaghetti straps on this design. The round neck is so beautiful. Such a comfy dress and jumpsuit! There is no need to use elastic in the back panel. The jumpsuit goes on and off without a struggle. The optional leg ruffle gives the jumpsuit extra length and detail. Must have!
In this today tutorial, I will show you how I add extra length to Lili jumpsuit by adding ruffles to the legs.
So to start, you’ll need our LILI pattern (English & Dutch). Cutting measurements of the ruffles are provided in the cutting section.
Let’s go ahead!
Adding Ruffle Legs To Any Shorts
Cut 4 pieces of ruffle (see cutting chart for the measurements of your size).
With RS together, sew short ends to make a loop using 3/8″ (1cm) seam allowance using a stretch stitch or serger/overlocker. you will have two loops, one for each leg. Finish the seams with your preferred method.
Turn RS out and press.
Gather ruffles to fit the leg width.
Pin to leg. Sew with 3/8″ (1cm) seam allowance using a stretch stitch or serger/overlocker. Finish seam with your preferred method and press them towards the shorts.
And that’s it! Here’s how it looks!
You can hem the ruffle with rolled hem or leave it as it it!
Here is how it looks on!
