It’s here! We are thrilled to introduce to you the KAMARIA Top, Dress, and Sunsuit.
New Release: Kamaria Ruffled Top, Dress & Sunsuit
Originally, this pattern began with an idea for a ruffled dress with an inverted pleated bodice; however, this pattern evolved into much more. Mgeni and I LOVE rompers for our little ones still, so we just had to add that option to this pattern. As we began testing, we had some of the tester request a top version, and well, Mgeni cannot say no. I definitely need to work on that or our patterns will take forever to test and get to you. In the end, I am so happy with the way each of these versions turned out.
Top Version:
Here is the KAMARIA top that I made. This pattern is written with a variety of fabrics in mind; however, for this top, you must use a fabric with drape…..think rayon challis, voile, lawn, etc. I used a lawn that I had purchased from Joann Fabric and Craft store last year on clearance. The top is designed to hit at the hips, so I chose to pair it with a pair of jeans while we still have somewhat cooler weather here in the Southwest.
Sunsuit Version:
The KAMARIA sunsuit is absolutely adorable! There are optional pockets that you can add to both the ruffle and non ruffle version. My daughter loves pockets for some reason and always gets excited. The contrasting pockets just add something more to it as well…..at least for me. Both the sunsuit and dress have a ruffle and non ruffle option.
Dress Version:
Last but not least, KAMARIA can also be made into a dress with or without a ruffled waist. I just love the sweet look the ruffled waist gives this dress. My daughter said she felt like a ballerina in a tutu.
KAMARIA is a fairly quick sew. The bodice comes together easily, as well as the skirt. The most challenging part of the process is attaching the skirt. The PDF has a detailed tutorial, along with illustrations. We have also included some tips to help you attach. By my third KAMARIA, it was a breeze! I used a black crepe for the bodice and two layers of different crepes for the skirt with no issues. Just take it slow, and you will be a pro in no time!
Happy sewing! Please be sure to share your creations on IG or Facebook group and tag us, so we can see. 🙂
