It’s not always so easy to find motif elastics to go with your garments. Especially for a gorgeous design as Soray Top & Dress. Soray is our newest member of our family! She is gorgeous. See here. As you can see the back of Soray comes with a crossed-elastic with any motifs you prefer. But what if, you can’t get your hands to a nice motif elastic?

Don’t worry we got you covered.

Nathalie from Liselena2010 came up with such a good way to solve this during testing phase of Soray. And she was kind enough to share this with all the testers! See tutorial below.

Note: You will need your copy of Soray pattern (English & Dutch) to do this. It is currently on sale. And If you buy more than one patterns we have a save 20% rule in the cart. No code needed.

Shall we begin?

Step 3: Sew down using 0.75 cm, more than 1/4″ (presser foot width).

Step 4: Turn the fabric inside out. Press flat so that the seam is in the middle at the back.

Step 5: Insert the elastic into the fabric tunnel and align each side of the elastic with one side of the fabric tunnel. The fabric tunnel already looks gathered.

Step 6: At both ends, add a zigzag stitching at 0.5 cm (1/4″).

Step 7: Stretch out the elastic with the fabric again. This way you get a nice gathered tube.

You did it!!!!
