This is one of the most common ways to lace a dress, similar like lacing a shoe. It just add that special detail in any garment.

What you need.

For this tutorial, you will need your copy of Sanamu pattern (English version , Dutch version or French version).  And If you buy more than one pattern we have a save 20% rule in the cart. No code needed.

  • Your bodice completed
  • Tools: nappy pin small enough to insert into your eyelet

Tutorial: How To Lace The Dress


Step 1: With one side of the bodice RS facing you and working in a diagonal direction, insert the front bodice lace into the opposite  eyelet of the back bodice (from the top). 

TIP: Use a nappy pin to insert the lace through.

Step 2: Insert the back bodice lace into the first eyelet of the front bodice (from the top). Your back bodice lace will be on top of the front bodice lacing crossing each other. Continue working your way down until you reach the lasts eyelets.

Step 3: Make a bow.
