2 pieces of Front Lining or Facing, mirrored
1 piece of Back Main, on fold
1 piece of Back lining or facing, on fold
2 pieces of Sleeves of Main, on fold
2 pieces of Cuffs, on fold
Optional: 2 pieces of Sleeves Lining, on fold (If you will want to make a reversible jacket)
Shall we begin?
ADDING SLEEVES: Unisex Seronera Bomber Jacket Sew Along
All seam allowances are 3/8” (1 cm) except where noted and are included in the pattern pieces. IMPORTANT: Use a serger, stretch or wide zig zag stitch throughout.
Step 1: With RS together, align the main front and main back piece at the shoulder and sew. DO NOT FINISH THE SEAM.
Step 2: Take the jacket and place RS facing up. Lay one of the sleeves RS facing the jacket along the armscye. MATCH THE CENTER OF THE SLEEVE WITH THAT OF THE SHOULDER SEAM. Pin and sew. Repeat with the other sleeve.
Step 3: With the jacket RS together, match up the underarm seam. Pin along the sleeves and down the jacket sides. Sew the sleeves and sides together. Repeat for the other side.
Now repeat step 1-3 to create the inside of the jacket.
ADDING SLEEVES: Unisex Seronera Bomber Jacket Sew Along
Step 4: Creating a Cuff: Join the ribbing to a loop along the long side, RS together. Press the seam allowances open.
For Lined jacket, do not fold the ribbing WS together.
For unlined jacket, fold the ribbing WS together.
Step 5: Adding Cuffs To The Sleeves:
Begin by placing a cuff inside one of the main sleeves, RS together and raw edges aligned. Sew the cuff while stretching it.
FOR UNLINED JACKET
FOR LINED JACKET
Attach the cuff to the sleeve lining the same way you did with the main. This is how:
Turn the outer jacket inside out. Turn the lining also inside out. Aligned the cuff and lining sleeve RS together and sew. Turn RS out. Repeat with the other sleeve.
You did it!!!!
Tomorrow, we’re going to ADD NECKBAND AND WAISTBAND TO OUR JACKET.
See you then.
