Tutorial: How To Add A Hood To Our Seronera

Step 1: Sew a hoodie: Take your main hood pieces and place them RS together and sew along the curved edge. Press the seam allowance open. Repeat for lining.

You will have something like this. Turn the main hood wrong side out and the lining right side out.

Step 2: Next, we’re going to attach our main hood piece to our lining hood piece by placing them inside of one another with the RS together.

Sew the front of the hood only all around make sure the hood center seams are aligned. Then turn the hood right side out and press.

TIP: Baste the hood and lining neckline together to make the attachment process easier!

Before continuing to step 3 you will need to sew the shoulder seams of the main pieces together. Finish the seam allowances and press towards the back.

Step 3:  With RS facing each other, join the front and back facing together across the shoulder seam as well. However, do not finish the seams.

Step 4: Pin the hood around the neck opening of the main piece RS together. The RS of the hood lining will be facing up. IMPORTANT: Leave 5/8” (1.5 cm) from the raw edges of the both ends of the neckline free so that we can attach the zipper later!

Step 5: Now take the facing and pin it around the neck opening of the main piece RS together. NOTE: The hood neckline will be sandwich between the onesie and facing.

Sew & press seam open. The seams will be hidden inside. Therefore, no need to finish them.

You are almost there! Last detail to finish.

Secure the back facing into the back piece by topstitching the edges on the RS. Tip: You can use a decorative stitch to topstitch!
